Japanese

Japan, or the “Land of the Rising Sun,” is an island nation in East Asia. Japan consists of islands, the largest of which are Honshu, Shikoku, Kosu, and Hokkaido. Japan is a multinational country, the head of state is the emperor, and the form of government is a monarchy. The capital of the country is Tokyo, the center of Japanese pop culture, known for its skyscrapers and shops. It is the administrative, financial, industrial, and political center of Japan.

The main attraction of Japan is Mount Fuji. It is an extinct volcano with a Shinto temple on its slopes. As for traditions, there is a separate tradition dedicated to sakura: during the flowering period, residents gather for a picnic and contemplate the sakura.

The official language of Japan is Japanese. The dialects of Japanese are Kansai-ben, Tohoku-ben, and Canto-ben. There are 3 categories of adjectives in Japanese: predicative, semi-predicative and Chinese adjectives. In Japanese, the direction of writing is from left to right; this type of writing was officially adopted in 1959, although even now there is writing from right to left, for example, on signs. The writing includes ideography and syllabic phonography. The Japanese language uses three writing systems: kanji, hiragana, and katakana. Kanji are Chinese characters used in Japanese writing to write nouns, verb and adjective bases, and Japanese proper names. Hiragana is a syllabic alphabet used for words that do not have particles or suffixes. Katakana is used to write words borrowed from languages that do not use Chinese characters, foreign names, and scientific and technical terms.
